Advice on Leasing a Car

Leasing a car is different than buying one, because you are responsible for a car that you do not own. You are now working towards owning the car, but are paying for the time you are using it. There are some advantages and disadvantages of leasing you car instead of buying one. So let’s briefly go over the difference because it is important to not before you head out in Nashville looking for a car to guy.

Getting a car on lease is a contract, like an apartment, and you are bound to it until it expires of you pay it off. Do not sign a lease unless you are prepared to pay for it. This is important because many of the people who lease are car are new car buyers and are not yet financially table to purchase a nice car that may have a high payment. So this is one of the perks, a nice car, that doesn’t cost a much, but you do not own it.

During the lease period, you are making monthly payments and often made a down payment. At the end of the lease, you will give the car back. So it’s like an apartment, you’re not working towards a car, but simply renting it. Some dealers may give you an option to buy, but most of the times it’s a long term rental.
This makes it unattractive to some, but it does have perks. You get low payments, a nicer car than you can afford, and you can change cars yearly. You can also avoid having a car loan. You are simply held by the yearly lease, but then have no more obligations beyond that.

The no loan thing may seem nice, but at the same time you’re working towards nothing. When you buy a car, you will eventually pay off the loan and own the car, which means no more payments. Leasing cars means you are constantly paying. Also, the cars can have limitations, such as mileage. You may need to watch your mileage and keep it low.

Personally, I have never leased a car. I purchased my first used car here in Nashville about 5 years ago and it has lasted me since them. It’s been paid off, is running fine, and I have no payments. All the above mention points are important to consider before you get out looking for a Nashville Used Car.
